PANDEMIC SHUT DOWN IN ACCORDANCE WITH KING COUNTY GUIDELINES
Due to the ongoing concerns over COVID-19 and the shut down of at home gatherings, The Old Goats Home and Rescue will be suspending tours and volunteer days until further notice. This is for the health of both our visitors, our little family who are the sole lookerafterers of all the animals during covid and our residents. We wish everyone a safe, healthy and happy during this difficult time. We will keep you up to date with any changes to this pause in visits, volunteering and mental health visits. Thank you for your awesome support and we hope to start seeing your smiling faces soon!
Goat Squad Care Crew
The Goat Squad Care Crew is put together with your skill set and the animals main needs in mind. There are several wings of OGH and although there are the everyday tasks needed in each wing, we like continuity of care for the rescue babes. By designating you a wing to care for, the animals get used to you and learn to trust you. This matters at OGH as a lot of the animals that come into our care have lived abusive lives in one way or another and lack trust in humans. Their health, wellbeing and comfortableness in their own home are our main priorities. The minimum commitment to the rescue babes is 4 shifts per month of at least 2 hours or 2 shifts of 4 hours per month. The Care Crew duties will be specific to caring for every need of the rescue babes in the wing you are in.
Care Crew duties can include:
Basic cleaning of animal stalls
Cleaning of goat toys and rearranging when needed
Changing waters, cleaning feeding stations and water troughs
Grooming of animals (A huge part of spring activities)
Basic goat medical care/hooves/PT assistance when needed
Other Areas of the Rescue that we would LOVE help:
Building goat toys and structures
If you're an artist and would like to contribute a mural to brighten up the rescue babes lives, or a design for merchandise we would love to hear from you.
