Thinking Of Finding Your Goat A New Home?

At OGH, we do accept owner-surrendered goats based on available space, quarantine availability and or room for the appropriate age/physical health of the goat. If you find yourself no longer able to care for your goat/goats, please reach out to us to see if we are able to assist you in anyway.  We do have a large network of PNW sanctuaries and private adopters that we are able to send your goats information out to.  Please note, depending on the time of year it can often be hard to place goats, but we will give it our best shot for you. Consultations

Before making any decisions about rehoming, consider reaching out to us to see if we can help problem solve any issues.  Often, minor adjustments can transform your goats from troublesome, terrifying, escape artists to happy, content, lovebugs. We encourage you to explore this option before parting with your goats.

Finding the Right Home

If we are unable to find space for your goat/goats due to space limitations, quarantine availability we recommend CAREFULLY screening potential future homes. Be super cautious when using platforms like Craigslist, farm groups and or local goat Facebook groups. These spaces are closely monitored by meat buyers and those who are ready to make a quick buck with a great story that sucks you in hook, line and sinker.  They may pose as families seeking pet goats but have no farm, no amazing stall, and no intention of keeping the goats. To ensure your goats find a secure home, we advise charging a rehoming fee and conducting a home visit
(please consider pictures and or videos can be sourced online, in person visits are best).

Found a Goat?

If you’ve stumbled upon a lost goat or goats, take immediate action to keep them safe. Create a fenced area free from poisonous plants such as laurel and ornamental plants such as rhododendrons and azaleas, Feed them only grass hay—despite their reputation for eating anything, goats are susceptible to serious stomach illnesses when fed incorrectly, please call your local animal control listed below asap. If you would like to contact us please know that we need verified proof as in photos, address found and your details in order for animal control to take action.

Goats tend to be homebodies and follow the flow of food, often staying close to where they were found because of this reason. Posting on local pages (with a request for proof of ownership) or checking in with neighbors can lead to swift reunions with their rightful owners. If the owners cannot be located, consider reaching out to The Old Goats Home & Rescue or your local animal control. Remember that the general public or rescue groups cannot legally take ownership of a stray animal—contact your local animal control for proper procedures.

Reporting Abuse
If you encounter an abused animal, please don’t hesitate to contact us or your local animal control (listed below) Together, we can ensure the well-being of these gentle creatures.
